Is this the end of nomads?

I've had confirmation that the Swiss/German border is closed. If a foreigner leaves Germany, he will not be able to reenter. Also Swiss who used to go shopping in Germany because it's cheaper, can't do it anymore. Crazy times! Even during WWII, the border remained open.

Norway Bank Account for EU residents?

I don't think tax is relevant here. I wouldn't like Scandinavian countries, even if they had no income tax. Go there first, and get your own opinion. Get ready for a very high cost of living first, and discover a bit of the way the people think up there. They just like big government.

Is this the end of nomads?

I don't need any new company, my business is fully organized, thanks. I'm the real perpetual traveler. Working everywhere, but on a holiday if someone asks. I just hope nobody will find it strange to spend a 10 weeks vacations in Germany at this time of the year, with all museums and most places...

Norway Bank Account for EU residents?

Cancel your trip! All Scandinavian countries are high-tax, no-privacy, fascist countries, I can only recommend to avoid doing any kind of activity there.

Wondering - exchange bitcoin to monero and back to bitcoin will it erase trails?

If you use 2 different exchanges for the 2 transactions, it should be OK.

Is this the end of nomads?

I'm close to Frankfurt, I believe I could fly away, but I have a big station wagon full of gear, so I need to drive. I guess I could cross the border to France or Switzerland, but then what? I would not be allowed to come back, there's a full lockdown in France, and Switzerland is an expensive...

Is this the end of nomads?

There's no issue with my birth country which I've left years ago. My only concern is that I'm currently in a high tax country, not officially working, and I don't know when I'll be able to leave because of closed borders. I wonder how the other nomads are managing the lockdown. I used to change...

Is EU really getting this bad?

Rentals are expensive. It's much cheaper to own, but I know it's difficult to manage technical inspections, and renewing registrations when you're traveling. Insurance is much easier, you can dot it online in a few clicks. If you don't mind taking risks, you can also drive with a temporary...

I have the feeling that the bitcoin value is collasping

I still have faith in bitcoin. I also have shares, and they're down even more. When I see central banks (EU & US) printing money like there's no tomorrow, bitcoin clearly has a future.

Is this the end of nomads?

I drove to the country where I'm staying on January the 31st, and I haven't left because of the lockdown (I was supposed to be near Milano on the first week of March). That means 68 days staying in the same country! That hadn't happened to for more than 10 years. I had plans to go to I, CH, MNE...

Is EU really getting this bad?

What? I own more than a dozen cars without insurance, some not running, some unregistered, in several European countries, without any problem. I don't understand how you were fined? How did they know your car wasn't insured?

    Has coronavirus affected you already?

You don't know where to go to be safe, it's a real problem for nomads traveling all the time. Second problem which makes things worse is that you can't travel where you want, with more and more restrictions... Besides, I have stocks, I have bitcoins, and everything's down...

    Has coronavirus affected you already?

I use to visit the Geneva motor show, but it has been cancelled... I've had a business trip next week in Portugal which has been cancelled... And I had planned 2 trips to Italy, one in April, another one in June. I shall go to Belgium instead, but it's getting really difficult to make plans.

Passport scanning and registered at hotels in France

I sure did. Twice last year, once in France incidentally, on the Riviera. They didn't even ask to see my passport, but I was in a group, attending a conference, company-paid trip.

What country would you choose to relocate to avoid taxes?

You may consider Hungary. Personal taxation is a but high, I think it has the highest VAT rate in the EU, but there's little tax on business, and Budapest is a great place to live. Much nicer than Bulgaria or Georgia and the Arab countries.

EU Commission is bashing 6 EU countries for aggressive tax planning regimes...

Funny when Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Hungary are among the best managed countries in the EU, with small deficits and shrinking debts. Maybe the EU wants all its members to follow the lead of Greece, Italy and France, going to bankruptcy.

Passport scanning and registered at hotels in France

I've been to 2 4-star hotels recently, and there were no passport-reader anywhere in sight. And there were no data entry, the only need was to check that my name was the same name they had a booking for. So it was very swift.

Passport scanning and registered at hotels in France

Well, I'm spending more than a hundred nights at hotels (1star to 5star) each year. So I've been in many hotels where an employee made a copy of my passport, but this was the first time I had this. Higher tech, but it means my passport info is in a database somewhere. Don't like it.

Passport scanning and registered at hotels in France

I spent a night at the Ibis hotel at Orly, the Parisian airport 2 weeks ago. When checking in, I gave the guy at the desk my booking number and my passport, and I was hugely surprised to see that he had the same machine the customs have. The device which can read your passport automatically...

Is it easy/possible to dodge the CRS?

I guess the only way is to have an official document stating you're a resident from another country.
