I hope someone can explain to me why it takes more than 4 weeks to get a simple bank account with the banks in Cyprus? I tried 2 different banks, the application is still pending at both banks!!

What is wrong with them, do they don't want more business there or what?

It takes much more time now to get a bank account with almost any bank. Try to open an account in your local bank, they are insane and going crazy with all of the compliance stuff. For only 5 years ago you could walk into a bank and open an account just like this.

Yes it takes a lot of time at the moment to get an account with the banks. It's not just Cyprus but also Belize and Mauritius I heard! seems they indeed increase the amount of information they require!

Will reply when I know something ;)

They are slowly moving now. Seems they got through the high workload and responding to new applications.

Be happy that they didn't declined your application. Things take just more time now. Just wait for next year or even 2018 then it will get almost impossible to open an account with any offshore bank. So you better open accounts this year while it is still possible.

Caye International Bank (Belize) completes all DD and KYC procedures within one week.
Wonder, did you applied for a corporate or personal account?
