It depends on who you are and what your goals are... some are going offshore because they want entirely to avoid to pay tax while others just want to reduce the tax.
There are ton's of alternatives, you can bank in Belize, BVI, Panama and so on, the problem is that they don't maintain any banking secrecy there are only a handful like Cyprus, Seychelles, Latvia, Switzerland and Lichtenstein.
There are hundred of banks around the globe who will open the bank account remote so Belize, Seychelles, Cyprus, Panama, BVI, IoM and so on. You will face problems in Hong Kong, Germany, and most part of Europe.
So far we opened a Cyprus bank account, Swiss account and Lichtenstein account... still on the look for alternatives. The fee's we paid are varieng from $100 and up to $900.... The Swiss bank account is with UBS Switzerland.
