Disappearance of paid to search Websites.

I had earned good amount of money in the year 2008 from a nice UK based site engaged in search Engine marketing.It was first paying 3 pence for each search,then reduced it to 2 pence, then 1 pence and finally closed the door to pay.Initially there were no restriction on number of searches.The website before closing the payment door has tied up with most trusted search engines such as Google,yahoo and another UK based search engine.I had received payout thrice from them in UK pounds.It was all cash not any gift or gift voucher.Is there any site that pays cash for SEM(search engine marketing).I am still searching to find an answer.
