True, but I can't open an account with IBKR for the life of me. I've tried 4 times already. They won't even tell me why. Does anyone know of a way around this?

Are you sure you are not on world check or similar? You could setup a cheap llc and open the account with it.

You might try with a different branch (in Europe Ireland, UK, Luxembourg, Hungary) or with a white label partner:
