What would happen to your business if you stayed in your home country?

Definitely yes. Switzerland had good schools and got infrastructure and encourages people to look outside the countries borders. And most find good business during their exchange years and stay elsewhere.

Would your business even exist, and would you be profitable?
In my case, no, the UK Gov under Snoopers Charter wanted access to data we didn't store (Zero-Knoweldge).

So it wouldn't be possible (then) to have established in the UK.

Aside from that costs (developers) was driven by overseas (Global South) so it wouldn't be possible to operate from the UK due to the time differences (productivity wise) it was kinda essential to move to HK

For me, it would be a disaster, the tax authorities have already subjected one of my companies to excessive scrutiny, and I only just managed to avoid serious consequences.

That’s why I relocated both myself and the business to a country where entrepreneurship and independent business operations are more respected.

Similar story for me too.

In my first business (in the country where I was born and raised), we (my business partners and I) narrowly avoided a criminal tax evasion charge, which showed me just how these f**king parasites operate.

Even our accountants (BDO) couldn't believe how the tax office were behaving (they were also threatened with being an "accessory" at one stage). Needless to say we sorted it out, but it was super stressful for someone in their early 20s and I made the decision then and there to GTFO and optimise my affairs to pay very little tax for the rest of my life.
