Even if you convert small amounts for fiat, you are doing so in an exchange that runs every single satoshi through analysis software, so every transaction is a lottery. And so you send this small amount and some day turns out it was tainted, and now they ask you about it and will ask where is this coming from.

all this tainted talk is nonsense, I have not had the slightest issue so far with smaller amonts below 5K euro, I made tons of such exchanges wit hthe same exchange for many years. No single problem at all. If you break it to smaller amounts it's much easier to get it through the banking system without questions.
