if money is not an issue, which eye clinics would you recommend?
my father in law has some eye related problems and would like to get best possible treatment.
i heard there are some very good in Russia, but I don't know if that's true or what their names are (this was merely a gossip of some sort)

please recommend something, and provide some source for checking the facts (if possible)

problems are probably related to excessive looking at the screen (computer vision syndrome - CVS)
but it could be some other underlying problem
as i understood his eyes are slow for focus change (ex looking at near object, then if he wants to look at one at the distance it takes 1-2s to fully focus), then vision gets blurry once eyes are tired...
overall he spends about 10hrs a day of screen time

he did try eye drops (for lubrication), it didn't help much

thank you
i see he is a surgeon, will he also do regular eye check to see if something is wrong (not sure if father in law is willing to do any surgery)? how much could this cost?

also i forgot to mention he does wear glasses (+2 on both eyes I believe), and recently he did a recheck and prescription didn't change

The tests are done by the clinic’s optometrists and then analyzed by him. Of course he specializes in refractive surgery (he invented the SMILE technique) so if your father in law is not interested in surgical vision correction this might not be the best choice for him. Price for the visit is £500.

A good alternative is Giuseppe Perone Also his area of expertise is wider.

i would start with some general exam to determine is anything actually wrong, or it's all caused by the stress of looking at the screen for prolonged time
other people also look at the screen, but symptoms are not that heavy, so there could be something done in order to improve his quality of life

for this purpose you would recommend Giuseppe Perone from IT?
any other recommendations?

The Czechs are highly regarded for vision-related work, but I can't vouch for them personally. But I imagine most European countries have clinics ranging from great to rubbish, so I would probably go with a personal recommendation. Or at least one with many verifiable reviews.

maybe vuity drops are the thing that makes the difference?
i did some quick research, and i did find a few posts on reddit where people share their experience.
usually positive experience, then if you do some due diligence you realise that those people have 10-20-30 posts, and most of them are about the fedorov clinic.

it could be that they are really grateful and appreciate their work, or it could be something else.

the clinic it self has a small number of doctors (this could be nothing, maybe they keep trade secrets safe this way)
the doctor does appear to be on researchgate & google scholar (with a fair number of citations but not even close to Dan Z Reinstein which @JohnnyDoe recommended)

another thing is the clinical trial, there is a link on the web site to check it, but once clicking on it, it only gives links to some patents (some registered in RU, some in DE).
so, this is not clinically tested procedure?

It's been a while for me since I dealt with this...
Just a backdrop...

She completely recuperated by 2020. Vuity was released in December 2021. She added Vuity (and something else - I can't remember the name, but I will ask) in 2022.

There are plenty of great ophthalmologists out there. I am just relating my experience. Always get a second, third, and possibly fourth medical opinion.

Medicine is a complicated field with too many unknowns.

Definitely, do deep research.

I would get a consultation with a great number of great ones. Eyesight can make or break a person.

@JohnnyDoe already mentioned some amazing ones in London, Saronno, and Coimbra. Fedorov is in Berlin.

Maybe somebody else can chime in, but I'm out of names for more super-qualified ophthalmologists in Europe. This is certainly outside my circle of competence.
If I were in this situation now, I would go to the ones above, undergo a consultation, and ask them: "Doc, if you had this condition, which ophthalmologist would you allow to treat you?" ;)

You will most likely find out who they think is the best.

I have NO way of vetting the skills of these ophthalmologists. I'm NOT qualified at all! I have a hard time remembering how to spell "ophthalmologists." stupi#21

These are great ophthalmologists in their fields. Another great ophthalmologist with the required education, skills, and experience is needed to evaluate them. ange¤%&

The best some of us can do is share our personal experience from a layman's point of view. I hope this helps to nudge you into making an appointment with ANY ophthalmologist and start your journey. Time is of the essence.

Kudos!
