Business contact in China

I have a client looking for a contact to help facilitate business in China, they are a shipping company and looking for a contact experienced and connected within the world of Chinese import/export as well as able to provide some advice and introductions for banking in mainland CH or neighbouring countries. Can any members point me in the right direction? I have no contacts there myself.

Considering all China does is export, shipping is already well established over there to every part of the planet.

In any case your best to look first at your countries local China business council to find trust worthy contacts. They will facilitate everything for you.

i.e for UK it would be.

Thank you, I think my client is looking for an actual person with connections in the shipping industry and general business there. I know very little about it but apparently the Chinese business world is very "low trust" compared to the west and therefore having a well trusted intermediary is apparently important

Thanks for all replies. 369, I think this is for a specific deal/contract my clients shipping company is trying to land that will be ongoing. Thank you for those who have sent a dm, hopefully have found what we need now will update thread if any issues

Is this something you will pay for or the guy that need it or what exactly is he looking for?

I know a few China people living in Europe and specialized in import / export business from Europe to China, they are also good connected there.
Hi Alley, yes absolutely they will be paid nobody is a charity. My client will pay me for an intro to someone who can help him fulfill his requirements and the actual facilitator will negotiate directly with him on their fees. I simply want some reliable contacts to introduce

That article is a year old and even then the data was fake.
instead beliving everything what an article says step your foots into china to check yourself the exploding recession
I'm based in China and actively involved in business here, so I follow the situation closely.

In May 2025, China's exports reached $316.1 billion,a 4.8% increase compared to the same month last year.

For the past two decades, I’ve seen countless predictions from so-called China experts claiming the country is on the brink of failure. So far, they've been wrong every single time.

You compare apple with pears.
That the nominal value of export increased (which i highly doubt these numbers are correct) does not mean that the exported amount of goods increased.

An example on oil. in 2024 x exported 5 barrel for $60 each which made a total export volume of $300
in 2025 it only exported 3 barrels for $120 each with a total export of $360.
Even the export increased in value by 20% the amount of goods exported nearly halfed and therefor the shipping demand decreased heavily.

An update on the requirement, those who have DM me I have replied individually.

Basically the requirement is for a Chinese citizen owned business to either work with my client in a JV or to supply dried foods/ships/ship building to his business. There are 3 x bulk carrier ships being purchased and put to work to give an idea of scale. Please dm if you or a direct contact fits this criteria. Thanks

Hi, I think as long as they are Chinese nationals and have business in China then that is fine. The key point I think is that, politics aside, the CCP has UBO status of everything that transacts in China and in order to obtain the much better "local" rate on the significant finance they need either a Chinese partner or be working with a Chinese business. For example if your contact has an import/export business that is Chinese, they could arrange a contract with my client providing ships and thereby demonstrate a direct benefit to Chinese business and China GDP. If you want to discuss further please dm me as this will be six figures plus for the Chinese contact if a deal can be struck.
