I trust the source is not a scammer, he is a very public facing business. Can reveal his business in DMs if needed.Ask him to send a wire transfer instead or use Wise for the payment.
This is likely a scam—both PayPal and Zelle payments can be reversed, unlike crypto. So the person helping you would be putting themselves at serious risk of having their account frozen, losing their funds, and potentially getting caught up in fraud.
His bank doesn't offer wires? If he has to pay a wire fee, just say you will take care of it (much less than the $500 you are offering).I trust the source is not a scammer, he is a very public facing business. Can reveal his business in DMs if needed.
My guess is he either finds it tricky sending from a U.S. bank to a UK bank. Or maybe because this is an upfront first payment, he thinks Zelle and PayPal give him better protections than banks if I were to disappear. Complete guess. His bank doesn't offer wires? A US client can only pay in Zelle or PayPal, I have neither.
I'll obviously be very choosy about who I do this with, but if the right person can take a $5000 payment and keep $500 for themselves while sending me the rest in Bitcoin, Monero, or bank transfer, that would be great.
