Would any of you have a list, or just mention here on the comments, the names of the most common 'correspondent banks' you have seen lately being used by offshore banks?
Several of the big guys (Citi, BoNY, SCB, HSBC, etc..) walked away from these services long back, who are the ones still around corresponding for Cayman, BVI, Bahamas, Dominica, Saint Lucia, PR, Malta, Mauritius, etc offshore banks?

Cayman National Bank is using Citibank as Correspondence Bank for all currencies, Butterfield in Cayman is using Barclays and BNY Mellon.

VP Bank in BVI is using there Subsidiaries for EUR, CHF and SGD.

Bahamas struggles big times having anything reliable unless it's some international Bank with local presence like Santander Private Bank, same goes for Dominica, Saint Lucia and the whole Caribbean.

Mauritius is using most of the time Standard Chartered and has next to Cayman the most reliable Correspondence Network ffrom the ones mentioned here.

However UAE Banks using all mentioned Banks here including Deutsche Bank, Bank of America and some local Banks has even there own Correspondence Bank in US like Mashreq and FAB - you have Standart Chartered, HSBC and Citibank being present in the UAE and they all provide the local banks with there Correspondence Banks usually in Ireland and USA.

And then compare the account opening with Cayman and Mauritius with UAE and you know one of the many reasons why UAE is actually that hyped.

Thank you very much for this comprehensive response, very insightful.
Surprised to hear though that Cayman seems yo be somehow scoring higher than Bahamas, since Cayman is still grey-listed and most international banks already walked away from there while in Bahamas several top Swiss/ European/ Brazilian names still keep large offices and now seem even expanding operations, intriguing.
