When it comes to domain names, what is the most important factor for Google's algorithm? Is it the actual name of the domain, the domain extension or a combination? For example if you had the following sites:

greatkeywordname.com

greatkeywordname.net

greatkeywordname.org

greatkeywordname.info

Which site would Google rank the highest and the fastest?

I think, the combination of both.I have seen the discussion in so many places over the internet, that Google gives preference to well selected domain name and also the domain extension.During indexing process of pages, Google gives preference with good domains and domain extension in the form of .com.Out of four option, you have given, the first one is better.

I think the most important preference would be given to the domain name. Domain extensions are becoming diverse day by day. Its domain name which always holds the key when someone searches Google or other major search engines.

Having a good domain name is definitely one of the most crucial factors on Google and other search engines, HOWEVER it is far from being the only thing to consider, even if it is the most important.
