Obviously new. There seems to be useful information here. I’ve been in the US business and start-up space for a while and am starting to internationalize. To start with a bold proclamation, I believe an American citizen, without renunciation, can structure in such a way to pay zero tax while obeying all laws with full transparency to the IRS. The failure is only one of creativity. I do not yet know how to do this, but am quite interested in solving this problem.

Zero tax is highly unlikely. You need to keep happy your main silent partner, who, after all, is giving you the opportunity to make profits. If you are not too lazy you can legally achieve a low effective level of taxation.
I second this.
Yet you will see, @HardRJones. Welcome on board!

as a US citizen you can own a foreign company registered in a zero-tax country and pay yourself a salary tax-free up to the FEIE limit (and file yearly forms), but after that is maxed out, profits are taxed, unless you then sell at least half of your business to non-family citizens of a foreign country. if you learn otherwise, please let us know.

we'll see if Trump's promise to eliminate the IRS will really happen. Musk, on the other hand, has said he wants to eliminate all US tax loopholes so that everyone pays the same. doesn't add up to me.

Coming back to this thread. As far as practical plans in 2025, I have the following on my agenda:
  • Creating a Wyoming LLC and setting up a banking/payment structure for a purely domestic business venture
  • Completing two citizenships by descent (started one in 2023, the other is a bit more recent)
  • Completing one permanent residency
  • Establishing a Serbian company plus foreign holding structure and US passthrough for a European business venture (exact structure is pending whatever happens in this tax bill the US Republicans are putting together as I work on other aspects)
  • (Maybe) Setting up a small Armenian company to test their residency process
