Hi,

If I am NL tax resident but my dad who never lived in NL / never was tax resident in NL will pass away and I will inherit 'wealth' after him or if he decides to give it to me while he still lives, will I have to pay wealth tax in NL? Ultimately, it would be a gift from a none resident so wouldn't his home country's law apply? Any ideas?

You will pay no inheritance tax in the Netherlands for the situation you mentioned above. However if your dads country has inheritance tax you might have to pay it there.

But you will have to pay wealth tax in the Netherlands.

So as I thought no inherit tax for me in NL as he is not a tax resident (never was). In PL where I am from and he lives the inherit tax in first line of relation e.g. father to son etc. is 0%.
