Anyone who’s applied for an MEU3, i.e. permanent residence (you can do this after 5 years of temporary residence): if immigration can simply check flight arrivals and departures, what’s the point of going to the extent of keeping extensive records, credit card transactions, boarding passes, and so on? It seems very laborious and a low ROI. I get why they might want to see that you've rented an apartment, paid social insurance, operated a company and paid yourself a salary: proofs of presence seems more dubious.
Also, as a related point: if in a given year you’re absent from Cyprus for longer than usual due to Covid-related disruptions (not necessarily catching Covid, but travel disruptions), would this be considered a reasonable excuse?
