My French is too bad and there are almost no English resources regarding this. So it's not very efficient...
Can anyone provide some information about current taxation of gambling winnings in France? I'm mostly interested in poker and sports betting but would like to understand the whole picture including casino games, slots etc.
For now I understand that France as one of a very few countries requires taxes to be paid by the winning end customer (and not only the license holder as usual).
What are the current rates?
Is it applied to the overall profit from the whole year?
Does it apply to French citizens only or also to people or other nations living in France (short term, long term).
Thanks

See Section 5 in below link

"A player’s casino gains in excess of €1,500 are subject to 12 per cent taxation, which shall be directly collected by the casino."

"Gains earned by professional players that appear to depend more on skill and strategy than on mere chance (notably with the game of poker) shall be filed with tax authorities as non-commercial profits, and are indeed subject to French income tax. For the purpose of the enforcement of such law, any person who earns substantial and regular amounts by playing games, so that such activity should be regarded as professional, shall be considered a professional player."

Depending on your residency you may also want to consult any double taxation agreements if you do not live in France.

For the tax view of the operator and the tax they pay see below. Top rate is 83.5% for revenue over 14m euro for land based casinos . No wonder Monte Carlo exists.

I mean Spain or Italy are crazy but this social experiment called France is unbelievable. No wonder people who can are running away, this is not gonna end well.
Thanks a lot for your help. Great resource, didn't know about it.

I feel sorry for the French. That tax rate was so high it made me run to my car and put on a yellow vest before I continued typing ja334¤¤#.
