You can open an account online for the Germany bank kt-bank.de. They are a bricks and mortar bank in expansion phase. They offer safety deposit boxes at their Frankfurt branch also and counter services. It is a Sharia compliant bank so if you don't like that stuff it aint for you. However there are no monthly costs to have an account and you get 100k deposit protection.

Also there's ongoing bank runs in Turkey because the government refuses to let the banks charge market interest rates in a country with double digit inflation. Most of their banks are probably insolvent.

I would like to have a physical bank which I can rely on holding my money.

If the amount of money that I would like to hold is too low, I may be interested in some digital banks like Bunq.
N26 must be excuded as it has a branch in Italy.

I can go for Bunq, and what else?

Please fully read the thread below. The bank is financially screwed and almost died.

The problem simply is there arent really that many alternatives around with a bank license and that handle aml/kyc so well (at least they did in the past). I have put absurd amounts for an EMI through them and never had an issue, aml/kyc once and it was sorted with very little paperwork...
