Failed to beat s&p500 and with higher drawdown!!
In this particular case, it's true, but I go way back than 10 years with BRK. ;)

But a question comes to my mind knowing that he is 93 years old, can Brk still beat s&p after his death?
ETFs didn’t exist in the early days, and were not so much popular until a few years ago. Their success is a big contribution to the S&P’s growth.
What will happen to brk when shareholders start to sell heavily following WB’s departure?

You are absolutely right
this screenshot and this performance of brk clearly shows Warren buffett beat the s&p500 in the past.

Hopefully, I will have learned a thing or two from Charlie and Warren and can ride a bit on my own.
Their philosophy made absolute sense to me the first time I ever heard it, and I was in college. Everything about them (except Bitcoin) made absolute sense to me, except "stock picking." I still do NOT dare to pick stocks on my own unless it's so apparent one can't miss it...even then...I have and didn't sell at the top because I had NO idea it was the top stupi#21

@rowena You need to consider when investing in Berkshire that you are actually just investing in the strategy of Warren Buffet. The present underlying assets are irrelevant as those will change from time to time. You need to have 100% confidence in Berkshires investment strategy and selection. If tomorrow he decided to put all the money in Boeing and WeWork would you be comfortable with that? :( At the end of the day with Berkshire you are paying for what is nothing more than the services of a revered stock picker.

RIT Capital Partners (RCP.L) aka Rothschild Investment Trust or Rothschild investment strategy is another such company listed on LSE. It is worthwhile reading their Annual report they published some days ago and seeing the positions and strategy and comparing it to Berkshire i.e Rothschilds Vs Warren Buffet strategy smi(&%

https://www.ritcap.com/sites/default/files/Annual-Report-December-2019.pdf

Since this post was written in April 2020:

Berkshire Hathaway went up 231.23%
RIT Capital Partners went down -2.36%
Another whole year has passed, and since then:

RIT went nowhere, still dead in the water
BRK is up 30.47%

Martin Everson - amazing stock picking as usual smi(&%
