So as of today (21st Sep 2024) NL have box 3 tax (wealth tax) which is based on the presumed returns. The effective tax rate is roughly 1.75%.

But they plan to change this system (due to the Supreme Court Ruling) to be based on actual returns rather than presumed returns + they talk about implementing capital gains tax.

So correct me if I am wrong here but is NL in 2027 going to tax your realised gains (capital gains tax) and your unrealised gains (wealth tax based on actual rate of return)

or

Capital gains tax will replace box 3 and unrealised gains won't be taxed.

If formal than people with e.g. crypto will be truly fuc..... in NL.

Well, problem here is how and when this will be integrated in the tax authorities systems. They can set any date but bottle neck right now is the implementation of all this IT wise.

Is there some kind of upper limit for when you have to pay wealth tax?

Yeah I read that they might struggle to hit the deadline of Jan 2027 but I still struggle o understand what kind of tax system we will have in NL in the near future?

- Capital gains tax only (like in most EU)
- Improved box 3 (based on actual gains) - meaning they will tax unrealised profits + capital gains tax (they will tax realised profit)

Anyone?

Is there some kind of upper limit for when you have to pay wealth tax?

If you single first €57k is tax free if you do your taxes as couple €114k there is no max cap meaning that your personal wealth can be €1bn and you still will be taxed in the same manner like someone whose wealth is €1m
