Hi, given the crackdown on CBI programs I'm curious how can owning these passports backfire? The only real reason I’m considering getting one is to have a backup plan in case things get unstable in the EU or my home country keeps sliding further into communist-sympathizing extremes.

To be more concrete; if you're an EU passport holder and have a Caribbean passport as a Plan B, meaning you essentially never use it unless things go to shits.

Can it backfire by:
  1. Getting flagged during KYC, AML (world check)?
  2. US (or other countries) not issue visa or rejecting entry even when applying with your EU passport?
Would be ironic if obtaining this passport to get more sovereignty ends up making you less sovereign.

This was the major reason I didn't apply for any of these programs due to being flagged on kyc or aml checks that I knew would come in later. Their advertisements were a dead giveaway.

These fears aren’t groundless at all, especially when it comes to the "cheap" CBI programs in the Caribbean.

In my opinion, even though I can’t predict the future, some valid options might include countries such as Turkey, Egypt, North Macedonia, or Jordan. If you’re an EU passport holder, it shouldn’t be an issue that these passports aren’t very strong, as they can still serve as complementary to yours.

yes of course the countries granting citizenship. And yes the needed funds for the investment
that's both obvious and it would be a silly thing to launder dirty money through obtaining CBI...

plus the entire assets you declare at the time of application.
you want to say that you're somehow obliged to declare your other assets for the application?
