I admittedly add 4% to PayPal payments, and still most clients prefer to pay via PayPal as I guess they feel safer to pay long distance with that as it gives them more guarantees. After so many years no one has come close to defy PayPal's monopoly, despite its high fees and outrageous currency rates :(

Remove the option from your website. If you got a good enough product people will find a way to pay by alternative means.

Promote other payments first, and put PayPal at the bottom of your list of payment methods or hide it behind more clicks. Make it inconvenient to pick PayPal.

A lot of people pay with PayPal because they can top up PayPal with their preferred local payment methods. If you know where your customers are from, offer those payment methods directly if you can.

Did you try to increase the fee? Maybe try 8 or 10%, or a fixed fee

In fact, it is still quite difficult, because PayPal is more acceptable. One reason is that if the buyer is not satisfied, he can file a dispute with PayPal, which is a guarantee for them.

I can only say that it can be combined with some other payment methods, such as wise, western union, etc., with some additional discounts

just have a normal cc processor like stripe and remove the PayPal option and replace it with a crypto option lol. If your customers are insisting on PayPal that means they have very low trust in you and will likely do a chargeback for the smallest reason.

We have ONE vendor (India - 26,000$-54,000$ a year roughly) that only accepts

- Paypal
- Wise Bank to Bank transfer
- UnionPay transfer

They absolutely hate Paypal because of the fees, but refuses stablecoins due to the taxes (doesn't pay taxes as it is due to their accounts being small), loves wise because gets more (no fees) and prefers UnionPay as instant.

On our hand we've struggled to get a unionpay provider that doesn't stop / start, wise means moving funds to Europe (time, costs) and Paypal costs us and them.

Its paypal or nothing.

So sometimes its not about you but them (note we don't have a paypal account, use pay by card).
