I live in the EU, but not in Germany. Believe me I want to travel, between 2013-2019 I flew 190,000m a year on average. I am running a multinational group of companies and should visit my colleagues regularly (in the UAE also) but I think it is very irresponsible to encourage people to travel, to spread their viruses all over the world. For exactly the same reason I am not visiting my mother of 78, as I do not want her to be infected by me, to get ill and die with a high probability.

And yes, I do not want the new mutant virus-holders to come into my region. They should stay at home, infecting their own people not me.

Then if someone protests and complains, blast them with water cannons Dutch police blast woman in the head with water cannon - if that doesn't work, maybe next time try a machine gun. Some countries went totally retarded - that includes Europe, some Australian states etc.

Meanwhile look at countries in South/Latin America or in Africa or even some European countries outside the EU (by that I DON'T mean the UK!). The madness there is way smaller. Why? Perhaps because these countries can't afford to destroy themselves for 12+ months continously and they need to reopen - for tourism, for the economy, for life. It is surprising that even countries like Brazil or Belarus - which are basically ruled by dictators and have HUGE problems of their own - have a more reasonable approach towards COVID.

I have no idea about Nigeria... Back to OPs question, crypto or some similar mobile payments are probably the best way. For short term stablecoins are fine, for long time you can just switch to Bitcoin hehe.

Very well said. A more soft approach makes sense. And in some places an upgrade of general hygiene like washing hands is not that bad for other reasons as well.

Also the money printing will be insane, going crypto does not help only with transfers to and from Nigeria, but also from the debasement.

Got hit by a car on the 20th January and died, your death certificate would read death related to COVID. How does that work?

Where are all the Cancer, Diabities, HIV and the other deaths. Did they go into lockdown also?

I think everyone is getting tired of almost a year old virus now. But virus is not letting go with new more dangerous variation striking terror in UK and South Africa mostly.
