Private Messaging (PM) & Conversation Rules​

Requirements to Start a Private Conversation​

To gain access to private messaging (PM) or start a conversation with other users, you must meet the following requirements:
  • You must have at least 15 high-quality posts or threads
  • You must have received at least 10 likes
  • You must have earned at least 2 trophy points
  • You must have been registered on the forum for a minimum of 30 days

Note: Low-effort posts such as "Thanks," "Nice info," or similar short replies that do not contribute meaningfully will not count toward this requirement.
Replying to individual users with multiple short posts is discouraged. If detected, such posts may be merged, and you may receive a warning.


Immediate Warning and Ban Policy

If you are unable to start a conversation/PM and instead try to bypass the system by posting prohibited content on your profile or in a thread, you will receive one warning. Any further violation will result in an immediate ban.

You are NOT allowed to post the following on your wall or on other users' walls:
  • Email addresses
  • Skype or similar contact IDs
  • Website URLs
You ARE allowed to post:
  • “Please contact me”
  • Personal remarks, feelings, or general comments that are not related to advertising, services, or contact details
  • Any content that is clearly non-commercial in nature

Why Is PM Access Restricted?​

The reason is simple:
OCT is not a platform for free advertising, unsolicited promotion, or spam.
We aim to foster a high-quality community of people genuinely interested in offshore topics,those who want to help or learn from each other.

There are plenty of other forums that allow spam, unsolicited PMs, and low-quality content from the first signup. If that’s what you’re looking for, OCT is not the right place for you.

If you make replies to each user with a new post (has been seen a few times) this will not be counted and if we find it they will be collapsed and you get a warning point.

Why have you made it so complicated to PM/start a conversation?
Very simple, we are not here to provide a free platform for service providers, spammers and other with commercial interest. We are here to provide a service to users interested in the topics and that engage to help people or get help from others.

There are plenty of low live forums around that will allow you to spam, PM, advertise right away from your first signup, please use such forums, OCT is not for you then!

Been around here for a while and now I want to join a mentor group, but I don't know which one, so I have a simple question:

I have personal accounts and also business accounts. I'm interested in exploring more options for both business & personal.

(1) What is the difference between MENTOR GROUP GOLD and MENTOR GROUP LIGHT?

(2) And which one is best for me if I want to explore options for both business and personal?

Mentor Group Gold - mostly for professional use - Mentor Group Light for private use - both give access to the same hidden forums and the resource database.

I used to be able to start conversations, at least with mentor group users.
That option seems to be gone now. Is it just the button that changed position to some hidden place?
