IT IS hard to establish just how much the Russian people are robbed and impoverished by the system of bribes and gangsterism that characterises their domestic economy. It would be a good subject for an investigative news station. Perhaps one called Russia Today. But RT, as it is known these days, is funded by the Kremlin, whose occupant Vladimir Putin is at the apex of that systemand has been efficiently strangling the independent media in Russia.
