I never understood the concept behind the fact that we are made to study history ...I mean what's the use in knowing dates at which Hitler committed suicide or whats The use In memorizing The date At which formation Of UNO etc etc..

The cycles of history repeat on a regular basis, so you can literally know the future (to a certain extent). You would be stupid not to take advantage of that political and economic knowledge. Read:

1) The Storm Before the Calm, by George Friedman

2) The Fourth Turning, by William Strauss

3) The Secret Life of Real Estate and Banking, by Phillip Anderson

All great books. I listed them in order of the quickest to read.

History is actually one of most useful subjects but one should try to fully understand effects and causes of events and draw conclusions, on the other hand remembering dates and king names like in school is so stupid that I cant express it in words
