Hi,
  • I had an e-commerce website, processing $50k/month
  • Not selling anything illegal, everyday household items
  • business-partner screwed me over
  • I'm an Iranian citizen living in Turkey
  • I want to set up a company, get a bank account, and get a merchant account
I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of money I could otherwise be making. Getting a merchant account seems impossible (Is it because of my nationality?).
I'm looking for advice on what you think I should do. How can I overcome this and start making money again?

Your nationality is the biggest problem. As soon as someone sees that Iranian passport or other document stating your nationality, you unfortunately get the same risk classification as Iranian government officials and Iran as a country. The second biggest is that you are resident in Turkey, which means many out processors won't accept you because Turkey is "out of region" (not supported/available under their license).

If you have a local company in Turkey, start with approaching local banks about card processing. Practically all major Turkish banks have some sort of ecommerce solution.
