I tried to create a company in Malta, but the agents would not handle me when they learned that my business is an escort directory. It is not only the agents but it is the law of the country that forbids this (and adult website in general).

So, how would this work in Cyprus? Am I allowed to have such a business there?

Welcome aboard :)

Well usually it is not a problem to setup a company for this purpose in Cyprus! However, the banks don't like it. Anyway there are ways to get this sorted out. What payment processor are you using for your business?

Thanks, Mr. Admin :)

I am starting up and trying to find a good place for my business.

I can deal with banks that do not like it. But I would need it to be legal in Cyprus, both because I do not want to risk any future trouble and because the payment processor says it is necessary (to be a legal business in the country of the company and the country of the buyer).

I found securionpay.com, they have really good fees for high risk, 4.9% and some 0.35 euro for each transaction. But they have not accepted me yet since I have not finished setting up the business (or the website). I might get rejected, who knows. I asked verotel.com, they charge over 15%!, and the customer support guy rejected me once he understood that I have an escort directory (and from their rates, their website and the fact that they are based in Amsterdam I did not quite expect that). If you have any thoughts on this matter, any input would be appreciated :)

But to be on topic for this thread, my most important thing now is to know if this is actually legal or not in Cyprus...

Most important for you is to check the reviews of each payment processor by Googling them and check them on the VISA AIS list which you can Google too.

Cyprus works fine for your dating business except the banks that for some reason don't want to touch this because of reputation issues :) but with an EMI account inbetween there is not problem what so ever. You can even use CCBILL direct also no problem.

PSBill sucks and is a fraud! don't use them! If you want to risk your business use instabill.com they are used by hundreds of high risk merchants!
It was an example.
Adult/Online Dating is an High-Risk business. For this reason the rates are more expensive than a normal business.
The user must search "Escort Payment Gateway or High-Risk Payment Gateway" on Google.
The best choices are:
- CCBILL;
- VEROTEL;
- EPOCH;
- INSTABILL;
- NETBILLING;
- BILLPRO;
- BITCOIN;
- EMPPAY (used by avaescort.com);
- USAEPAY (used by clip4sale.com);
- NORDPAY (used by ladyxena.com);
- SECURIONPAY;
- EMB;
- WEB750 IPSP PARTNER.

That was a very nice list, Internationaloff! I will sure use that one, thanks :) Just to mention (for any future readers) that the Dutch Verotel (with a whopping 15.5% fee) does not serve escort directories. In addition there is the Danish paylike.io, but for smaller amounts they are more expensive (900€ year, 150€ month and 3.5% + 0.25 per transaction) than securionpay (500€ year if you want MasterCard, 0€ month and 4.9% + 0.25€ per transaction).

I'm impressed you are one of the few users that actually do their research and take action ;)

Verotel does not accept all Adult business. High Risk business has expensive rates. doh948""
One of the best alternatives is BTC. thu&¤#

If was as easy for everybody to pay with Bitcoin as with VISA or MasterCard, then the world would be a much better place :)

I will also add the option of PaySafeCard, which is a completely different kind of solution, where the buyer buys a code in one of the many shops that sell these codes. Formerly known as Ukash, read more in the blog posting <<snipped>>

Why was the link to the blog post censored? I admit that I have not really read the terms for this site, but how can a link to a relevant blog post be censored?

I think that at some point, it is worth thinking out of the box and using a Bitcoin payment processor so that you don't need to be in compliance with terms of service.
With bitcoins you are not at risk of being scammed. For sure, the fees will be less higher using bitcoins than using a high risk payment gateway.

Those companies know that people in the adult business can't get exposed in public. They are not likely going to sue a high risk payment gateway. So, those payment companies are almighty. If they want to impose 15% fees upon an adult business tomorrow, they can do it.

The only real downside of bitcoin is the lack of recurring payment.

However, most of the time when someone subscribes to an adult website, in more than 50% of cases, the subscriber will cancer its subscription before the first month end.

If you opt for bitcoin, you must create tutorials for people to know how to pay using bitcoins.

BTCpay server (open source selfhosted wallet)
blockonomics (decentralized wallet with a payment gateway)
Electrum
Cashier-BTC

Thank you for the input, but this thread is about Nominee Director for an Escort business so it is from 2017 I'm sure that this guy has found a solution in the meantime or gave up. Let's hope reopening this thread with a Bitcoin Payment gatwaye for this purpose make sense ;)
