How long will it take for an aufenthaltsbewilligung b in Switzerland?

I have been reading forth and back on various thread here and many other blogs and forums!

I'm looking into the aufenthaltsbewilligung b or also called Ausweis B - I'm EU citizen so I have a right to come there once I have rented a home and have a work contract, I have both in place.

How long would it take after I have been with "einwohnermeldeamt" and got the receipt from them.

You might not get a B right away. Sometimes they give you an L permit for a year, which you then change to a B later.

You usually get your B or L permit within a week.

Why not the B from the very beginning ? why L ?

If they think you might not stay more than a year, they sometimes issue L permit.
