Trump Says Will Sell 'Gold' Residency Permits For $5 Million

If Trump sells even 10 such residencies I will be extremely surprised.

Any decision by Trump that is not LEGISLATED (yes I know, it's a word you don't hear much in the Trump context) will just be overturned the moment a Democrat enters the White House - and it can happen sooner than people think.

I don’t think he can sell even one since they don’t currently exist and I don’t think he has the power to implement these requirements changes without legislation backing them. The Democrats will get back into the White House in 2028 because Trump can’t run for reelection due to Constitutional limits and the Democrats won’t select a dumb black woman who literally sucked men’s dicks to move up the political hierarchy for 2028.

IRS beast and 3 letter agencies for life ;)
oh boy this Trump guy is tempting me hard! o_O

1) Trump administration plans major downsizing at U.S. spy agencies
The planned cuts include 1,200 positions at the CIA, along with thousands more from other parts of the U.S. intelligence community.

2) More Than 20,000 I.R.S. Employees Offer to Resign
About 22,000 employees at the Internal Revenue Service have signed up for the Trump administration’s latest resignation offer, according to four people familiar with the matter, an exodus that could weaken the agency’s ability to collect taxes. hap¤#"
The I.R.S. had about 100,000 employees before President Trump took office. Between resignations and layoffs, the I.R.S. is on track to lose about a third of its staff this year.

Why is that tempting? US will simply use AI and other tools to collect taxes. They have everything now focused on ICE. Deport first ask questions later

It's more to do with AI taking over everything. It could translate any languages and accents too. They don't need as many translators and other unnecessary people. Sad to see that happening all over the world. With AI I don't know how common people will survive. Future looks very dark.

don't worry it's tempting me only in my dreams. Everytime nsa/cia employees get sacked makes me a bit hard... after all the s**t they're doing daily...
There is no way I'd put my whole life in the hands of the most powerful bureaucracy in the world.
I am not ready to go back to a "first world country", I forgot how to do things by the book (accounting? taxes??? etc rof/% )

Dems in parliament

tax bracket on individuals earning more than 2.5 million dollars at 39.6%
People at that level of income have access to good accountants, no way they're going to let them pay taxes at 39,6% . Trusts and holding companies FTW (like Europe).
And I am pretty sure Trump knows how these things work... that's a distraction, there could be something better hidden deeply in the bill smi(&%

5 million for couples though…

Idk Its much much better than pre-2017 when this exact rate was kicking in at $420k or $470k for couples… It’s generous imo No single west european country is capable of doing such thing lol at 200k gross almost all of western europe takes half of it or more

Trump (on the list of his bill) is proposing a tax bracket on individuals earning more than 2.5 million dollars at 39.6% so I think it is very likely gonna pass. Will attract most Dems in parliament

I wonder how many people will actually pay that? I mean at that level of income people often earn through dividends which are taxed much lower depending on if they are qualified dividends etc. I can't imagine many people being payrolled $2.5m a year.

I need to see details but sounds as credible as Trumps foreigners pay the taxes claim.

Probably those who own pass through entities or sell short term CGT (<1 year). Employees with such W-2 is extremely rare.

Also he wants to scrap the carried interest loophole that wealth/investment managers use to avoid income tax and thus pay long term CGT rate on their "wage" income (aka compensations) since those are considered like stocks

I need to see the text of a bill. Until then it’s all hot air from politicians. Senate bill will likely be the closest approximation to the actual bill once it gets through conference committee and passes because the Senate has the more restricted path to passage through reconciliation.

I got misinformed. It's a rumor that this proposal is part of the bill so not confirmed

Trump’s $5 million Gold Card offers the rich a fast lane to residency

“I have one from India, one from Pakistan, and two from Egypt. And a colleague who has a few [clients] from Russia,” says immigration attorney Mona Shah. Most are drawn to the offer of an express lane to permanent residency, plus more favorable tax implications; foreign nationals living in the U.S. on a Gold Card would only be taxed on their U.S. earnings.

Trump added that he’d be happy to call it the “Trump Gold Card.” In fact officials say a government website is now using the name TrumpCard.gov, and Trump has since revealed a sample card with a picture of his face on the front.

Trump has said the proceeds of the Gold Card would go to help pay down the budget deficit, and possibly even chip away at the massive $36.2 trillion national debt.

“We’ll be able to sell maybe a million of these cards, maybe more than that,” Trump said. “A million cards would be worth $5 trillion. And if you sell 10 million of the cards, that’s a total of $50 trillion. We have $35 trillion in debt. That’d be nice.”

But most immigration experts and attorneys see that figure as wildly unrealistic. They expect sales to be in the low thousands.

Immigration lawyer Darren Silver says he’s received a flurry of calls about the Gold Card, but interest wanes as soon as he explains this program is not like the existing EB-5 visa program, which requires an investment of something closer to $1 million in a business that creates jobs or $800,000 for investments in a lower-income ‘targeted employment area.’

Silver says his clients are surprised when he tells them the Gold Card is not an investment that might offer any returns. It’s effectively just a donation.

“I had to explain to them, ‘you’re gifting the U.S. government $5 million. That’s all you’re doing.’” says Silver. “And once I explain that to them, they’re out.”
