You are going to have a hard time exchanging 5 figures in Dubai, all the OTC desks I know are 6 figs+.

AED, I think most people use it to buy a car, a watch or property. It’s not smart to travel with such a big amount of money. If you need it somewhere else you just cash it out somewhere else. It can be done almost everywhere it’s just not advertised. In the uae these things are easy.
