Hi everyone, let me describe my situation and the 6 months long merchant acquiring process I am into.

We are an IT Consultancy firm based in Pakistan, have been using Paypal since a few years but now looking to expand and need a merchant account. First we registered a company here and opened a corporate bank account. Approached a few merchant providers but none of them were willing to work with a Pakistani company.

Than we registered an offshore company in Dubai and applied for merchant account through that, faced the same problem however one of the merchant provider suggested that they will open an offshore company in UK for us and will get merchant account though that, we agreed and a company in UK was formed last month. None of these offshore companies have corporate bank accounts.

The merchant account is still in process and almost 6 months are gone trying various solutions. I found this community last week while searching on Google and read some really good things here.

Acquiring a merchant account as a Pakistani is damn difficult and we still don't know if we will get one or not, we do have access to some merchant accounts owned by other people, who let us charge our sales for a percentage, but in this process we have to share of profits which we don't want to do and need to have our own merchant account.

To get corporate bank accounts in Dubai for offshore company you need to maintain minimum amount per month, which is a lot and for a small company like us is not possible. In UK we can't open a corporate bank account as none of the shareholders are UK resident. Barclays require a deposit of 25k GBP to open a corporate bank account without going there which is also a lot of money.

Keeping all this in the mind can you guys suggest how we can get a merchant account without losing more money. Currently the merchant account in process is from Rietumu Banka based in Latvia, they don't need corporate bank account in EU or UK, they will send the settlements to our Pakistani company bank account, which is yet to happen. We don't know how much more time they need to setup.

Thank you.

Be careful with Rietumu Banka, there has been lots and lots of shady stories about this bank during the years.

Fact is you have a UK company, so if your business looks legit and you don't have too many chargebacks (less than 0,5%) and your website is Visa compliant I would recommend you one of the following payment processors, you apply with your UK company directly with them:

  1. WireCard Germany
  2. RBS WorldPay
  3. GlobalPay
They will all accept UK companies, you don't need an offshore corp. or someone to help you, you can apply directly.

If all this fails you go with durango merchant service and ask them to help you, they have been in business for centuries and know all sort of banks, payment service providers and merchant account providers and can help as long as it all is legit and straight forward business.

If all this help, come back here and let us know, I will have to digg a little deeper then.

Durango is the one who formed our UK company and working with us for Rietumu Banka merchant, I do have read some stories about this bank on Google but since Durango suggested this and no other solution is present we decided to go for it, lets see when it gets up for processing and I will definitely update this thread about the process and how it goes so it can help others.

I will also apply with the merchant providers you suggested.

Thanks for the help.

I have been processing credit card payment for people in india and pakistan since 2013. It's important to note that im sharing actual high risk merchant account that are approved, im not a payment processor. Currently, i have one available: 25% / weekly / 2 weeks arrear.

Thanks

Got any vouches?

Durango should have been able to find you alternatives to what they suggested you. What I would look at is the official Visa list of certified providers which you find here Visa Global Registry of Service Providers - Search Results this gives you a great overview of good companies that at least have spend lots of money into their operation and for that reason don't may be a scam.

Still be careful of course.

Located in Delaware, my problem is similar, in the sense that currently I have only PayPal for payments. I'm concerned about the time it takes to get a merchant account or a payment gateway. Can not wait that much time! Any suggestion to get one sooner?
